Hi, only been playing WOW for a couple of months, started on a Druid, but didn't enjoy the melee too much so rolled a Human Mage and haven't looked back!  Still learning my way through the game, and hoping to start raiding eventually, although pretty glad that Wrath will level the playing field somewhat for people in my position.

Hello,

I've already replied to a few other threads in this forum and only now have decided to really check this place out.

I've got a raiding mage on the Shandris server and its the only toon I really play.  Before 3.0.2 I was just starting T6 content, now we've cleared everything but the last bosses of T6.  I'm into theorycraft but even more into live-testing.  Up to 3.0.2 I preferred raiding as an arcane mage.  Now I have no idea what I prefer, but I'm still arcane for the time being.  I've only recently found a new groove with the changes to arcane.  Once the xpac comes out, I'll probably level as frost, and once I get back to end-game I'll experiment with fire a bit and either stick with it or go back to arcane.

Cheers all,

-Regwin

HI Cheesy

I played for 3 years but took a 6 month break to finish school.

Played EVERY class at high level, most in high content, EXCEPT the Mage. So I am starting over and I am super stoked.

Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy

Been registered on the site for over a year now and only just got around to posting on here. Slacker! Wink

Been playing WoW since November 2005 and my first character was my Feral Druid. Rested him up a few months later at 60 and rolled a Mage and haven't looked back!

I've raided on vanilla wow, TBC and soon WotLK. I've recently hit 80 and I'm playing on the Aggramar EU server and a member of Soldiers of Azeroth on there. Loving this website as its my first port of call if I have any questions or need a quick gear check to see what's the latest find for trinkets and the like.

Great collection of people with much valued input too! Thanks all for making this a great place to be (and to ask daft questions from time to time!) Cheesy

Hi all,

I played a gnome (fire and 'elemental' specced) mage back in the day when only WoW existed without any expansion packs and got him to level 60 just before TBC dropped, so didn't get the chance to do any raids. Then in TBC I leveled him to level 62 and got the blues. In fact I got it so bad that I deleted (yes, DELETED) my mage and switched to the Horde side (because my r/l friends went there) and started playing a hunter.

Now that my hunter is level 80 and I'm a bit bored with raids/runs atm, I decided to go back to my first true love and re-created a gnome mage.
He's now level 21 and I'm going Frost. I have to say Frost is fun for leveling and I can't wait till I get to the point that I can try out the Frost 'mass-group' farming technique (collecting mobs and sharding them down). I remember seeying that a few times when I was playing my hunter and I just sat down and watched the show.

Well, I could make it a longer story, but I'd rather continue to level my little powerhouse ;-)

Oh and if you happen to play on the Azjol-Nerub server (eu), feel free to drop in and say hi.

Hi folks!  I'm Rupturedduck of Gorefiend.  Ruptured was my ever toon which I started in May 2005.  Since, I strayed and played a Hunter for quite a while, particularly in the beginning of BC.  So RD was my second toon to reach 70, but I would consider him my Main at this point.

Cheers!

Hi there!

I started out on a human pally and leveled a night elf rogue to 19 and parked her.  Then when my pally was 60, I decided to roll a human mage (I think I found a boe caster something or other and wanted to use it instead of sell it).  I immediately fell in love.  The mage was so much more fun than the pally.

I've been playing her for simply ages (got her to 60 just in time to be present for a guild-first take-down of Lucifron).  Raided Molten Core for about 4 or 5 months before Burning Crusade hit.  Was either 4th or 5th in our guild to level 70 (we had a contest and this won me a prize of 150g).  Started raiding Kara but my computer started having some serious issues about this time.  After getting 1 fps on my one and only Gruul's lair run and dropping to 1 or 2 fps on Aran, quit raiding altogether.  About this time our guild kind of fractured over a disagreement to stay a casual guild or to become a more "hardcore" raiding guild.

Drifted about in limbo for a while...leisurely leveled my rogue, then another rogue, and then finally my pally to 70.  Couldn't stand it any more and built a new computer.  Finally I could raid again!  Joined up a new casual guild and was able to run Kara again.  I eventually gquit a few weeks before Wrath hit as everyone was just kind of in a pre-expansion funk but now I'm in a new casual raiding guild and doing ok on Naxx (but could be much much better).

I leveled to 60 as arcane (back in the days when arcane was seen as mainly a "utility" tree and rarely seen as a main spec) but switched to frost when I started raiding MC.  I think I switched to fire for the run to 70 but those memories are hazy.  I've been trying to remember what spec I had through most of BC but it's not coming to me...I think I was more focused on leveling alts since I wasn't really doing any high level content on my mage during this time.  When Wrath finally hit, I went back to arcane which was always my first love.  Only in the couple of days have I started playing with a FFB spec (I waited until dual specs came out so I wouldn't have to give up arcane).  I think it has some promise as a fall back for longer fights where mana was starting to become problematic.

Anywho...that's the long and short of my mage.  I've started to become increasingly irritated with balancing on the hit cap and am thinking of rerolling a space-goat mage to pick up the extra 1%.  Plus, it might be fun to level up again. =)

Cheers!

Hey all,  name's Joe.  Started playing wow about 3 months prior to the opening of AQ Gates on (Dentarg-US).  quit for 2 months just before the release of TBC,  then came back and lvl'd to 70 with my sister, and her gf and what was left of our guild.  We were the guys passing up raid guild invites so we could farm our dungeon.0 and dungeon .5 sets lol.

Shortly after hitting 70 we all 3 decided to quit wow again.  This time for a bit over a year.  When I came back alone the next time,  I rerolled where Horde with some of my old guildies on Twisting Nether-US. The character that i rerolled was another mage! and I leveled him to 55,  before going back to my ally mage at 70,  and taking him from blues and greens,  into early t5 stuff in the short amount of time I was back before WotLK released.  At that point I again quit wow,  for near 6 months.

I came back this passed April,  and leveled my 55 horde mage to 80,  and have been running bgs and arena,  and some entry level stuffs (heroics/Naxx).  I live in Brooklyn NYC,  and this is most likely my last ever wow expansion.  Maybe go back to consoles when the Halo 3 :ODST rolls out,  or go back to playing old final fantasy games with an emulator on my macbook Smiley

I've lurked these forums for over 4 years during my time in wow.  I think I originally came here to find out about what my spec should be now that Evocate and instant Arcane explosion were moved out of the arc tree,  and made baseline skills. lol  After I read Alcaras sticky on mage talents and builds on the old forums Smiley

I've used this resource for raiding info,  and itemizing info,  and even for a time was rocking Alcaras UI as my main set up Smiley

I see this place isn't quite as populated as it once was,  but just wanted to add a thank you to Alcaras and the regular posters,  who made their way to the top of my toolbar,  when I had a question about the mage class.  Well done fellas,  hell of a community you guy had built here.

Looking forward to spending the rest of the expansion with you guys Cheesy

Take care
Joe

Hi, I play Natee on Uther.  I'm just getting back to the game after a long break and am greatly enjoying my  young (lvl 43) Mage.  I always loved Mages when Tanking Heroics, now I get to play one!

Greetings.  I am Castanova and I play a mage on Twisting Nether.  I found these forums on Tachyon's blog which is quite simply one of the best out there and one I always direct budding mages who wish to learn a bit about theory craft to.  See you around the boards Smiley
